In connection with the marking of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Denmark, Grundfos Vietnam was the main sponsor and co-organiser of the celebration.

At the event, former Olympic badminton gold medal winner in Atlanta 1996, Poul Erik Hojer had been invited to play against former Vietnam Champion, Ho Van Loi, and former world ranking no 1, Peter Gade was invited to play against world no 7, Mr Tien Minh.

Participating in the event was the Crown Prince of Denmark who also started up the main match between Gade and Minh by playing a few shots. The Crown Prince was obviously enjoying himself and made the start up last quite a few minutes in which he managed to miss a few shots as well.

Before the start up the Crown Prince handed over a check of Dong 85,000,000 equivalent to USD 4,000. The money is earmarked for a Corporate Social Responsibility project to try to activate street kids in Ho Chi Minh City into sport and in this case Badminton. Poul Erik Hojer has already indicated that he will come back and assist in this project that will be initiated and handled by Grundfos Vietnam.

The indoor Badminton court had more than 2500 seats and was almost full house. Among other prominent visitors were the former Primer Minister of Vietnam, Peoples Committee Chairman, John Nielsen - Danish Ambassador to Vietnam, Jørgen Leth, Anne Birgitte Lumholdt, Mads Øvlisen. Grundfos Regional Management was represented by Regional Managing Director, Poul Due Jensen and Area Managing Director, Okay Barutcu.

- All in all it was a fantastic event and besides a lot of good branding response we have been seen in most large TV stations and major newspapers, said Grundfos Vietnam General Manager, Gert Borrits.
