A raw water reservoir does not simply hold water until it is needed. It is the first part of the water treatment process. The retention time – the time the water is held in the reservoir – is a design feature that allows particles and silts to settle out, as well as time for natural biological treatment using algae, bacteria and zooplankton that naturally live within the water.
Grundfos can supply all components for managing a water reservoir, where the requirement is to keep the water moving and oxygenated with mixers and flowmakers, with the careful control and adjustment of water quality with a dosing system.
Changing load conditions require a pump system that can handle large flows at low head. Grundfos AFG flowmakers offer an optimum, energy-efficient solution for mixing in big tanks, creating a bulk-flow with an almost uniform flow-velocity and limited risk of dead zones.
