A cold store is refrigerated area for cold storage, a refrigerated building, or area for keeping goods, especially food, in cold conditions to preserve them.

In a cold store, the temperature is below 0 °C, and typically under -18 °C.
The evaporators are equipped with systems for defrosting the coil and drip tray.
The density of the air inside a cold store is higher the outside air. The entrance is normally equipped with an air lock chamber to avoid loss of cold air and infiltration of humidity into the cold store.
A cold store must have a electrical tracing in the doors to secure that they do not freeze. The floor must be nonfreezing with heating coils to avoid damage to the building due to permafrost.
