Drip tray

A drip tray is used to collect condensation or defrosted water from cooling surfaces when air is cooled to below the dew point, etc.

A drip tray is used if a cooling surface cools air to such low temperatures that condensation or ice forms on the cooling surface. A drip tray is usually mounted under the cooling surface and is normally made from steel sheet. The edges and underside of the tray are normally insulated to prevent condensation forming under it. It can be equipped with a heating coil or electric heat tracing for de-icing purposes. The outlet from a drip tray will normally be equipped with a water seal.
