Both Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat can update itself via the Internet. The update can be done automatically without asking the user to perform the update.
However, from time to time this function leads to undesired results in connection with WebCAPS.
Whenever a print is generated in WebCAPS, a PDF-viewer is called to display the print.
Mostly, the PDF-viewer installed on the user’s PC is either Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat. If a new update is available for the Adobe program, this is displayed behind the print dialogue box giving the user the impression that WebCAPS is not working since no PDF-file is displayed.
To prevent this, we suggest to let the PDF-file be displayed in a separate Window – instead of embedded in a browser, see example below.
Another solution is to set-up the Reader or Acrobat to manually check for updates.
Example: Set-up Adobe Reader 6.0 to display PDF-file in new Window.
1. Select “Preferences” in the Edit-menu.
2. Select “Internet” in the dialogue box appearing.
3. Uncheck the option “Display PDF in browser.

Example: Set-up Adobe Reader 6.0 to manually check for updates.
1. Select “Preferences” in the Edit-menu.
2. Select “Updates” in the dialogue box appearing.
3. Select “Manually” in the “Check for Updates” box.
