Grundfos CBS Inc. Expands PACO VSM Hydraulics

09/11/2006

In January 2006, the PACO VSM Vertical Space Miser pump was introduced to the commercial building services market. This innovative product represents a whole new configuration of water pumps, and is designed to make dramatic floor space savings over any other design available.

The "top-top" same-sized suction and discharge eliminates elbows and suction guides; the vertical motor further reduces footprint size. The VSM (closed coupled) and VSMS (spacer/ split coupled) designs are standard in ductile iron, dual volutes and require no grouting, and will allow both vertical forces and torsional moments.

Six hydraulic sizes were introduced in January 2006. Four new hydraulic sizes are being introduced in Q3 2006 – 4 x 4 – 9.5, 4 x 4 -12, 5 x 5 -12, and 8 x 8 – 9.5. The final four sizes are scheduled to be introduced in Q4 2006.

Interest in this new product in the commercial building services market has been better than expected. A 15-pump project is being installed in the Houston, Texas area. Chris Zelenka, Grundfos CBS Marketing Manager, states that the engineering firms and contractors have found this new design as exciting as was expected by Grundfos CBS, and continues to see a high level of quotation activity with new projects.
