Grundfos Helps Garmin Hit the Road

Due to fantastic growth, Garmin International Inc., a leading manufacturer of navigation and communications equipment, required expansion of their facilities in 2004. This expansion included an 8-story office building located in Olathe, Kansas. The new building is intended to house engineering R&D operations and a customer support technical center.
With any new multi-story office building, the HVAC systems become an important part of the continued success of its tenant. Grundfos CBS has become an important supplier for the HVAC systems in the new Garmin building. Many of the systems include Grundfos and PACO products that assist with lowering life cycle equipment costs.
The domestic water pressure is boosted with a 3-pump Grundfos ME integrated variable speed BoosterpaQ® system. This packaged system provides constant pressure throughout the building with lower operating costs. The BoosterpaQ® system also provides water for cooling tower make-up.
PACO LF end suction pumps feature higher operating efficiencies and integral suction splitter for lower operating costs. Four (4) PACO LF end suction pumps are installed in the chilled water service, and four (4) PACO LF end suction pumps are installed in the condenser water service. In addition, two (2) PACO LF end suction pumps provide the glycol/water service for the closed-loop dry cooling system.
In other applications in the new building, a Grundfos CR pressurizes the fire system as a jockey pump, and a Grundfos DME dosing pump provides chemical treatment of the water in the water feature at the entrance of the Garmin building.
Garmin is so satisfied with the operations of the Grundfos and PACO pumps that the next steps in the building expansion include products from Grundfos CBS.
