When supply reliability is a top priority and there is a need for pumping large volumes of water, quality-minded customers turn to the efficient NK norm pumps with a pump capacity as high as 2,000 m³/h water. This is exactly what the Aggerverband Gummersbach water supply company did. The company supplies approx. 500,000 people with drinking water and treats up to 25 million m³ of water annually.
The company has two water works in the distribution net grid and the operation managers thus have to take a worst-case scenario into consideration - that one or both plants experience operational stoppages. In order to maintain reliability of supply in all scenarios, the company has set up the Alpe facility which is located between the two water works. When the company a couple of months ago had to invest in new pumps, three NK pumps were selected (including a speed-controlled pump) as these are modern long-life and highly reliable pumps characterised by low service, maintenance and operation costs. These operation advantages which the old pumps could not provide were a deciding factor in selecting for the NK pumps.
The modular structure of the NK pumps ensures simple motor and impeller dismantling requiring no extra work on the pump housing or pipe wiring. The possibility of dismantling the entire motor/impeller unit separately ensures both simple and low-cost service of the pump. Furthermore, thanks to their high efficiency the NK pumps excel with a significantly lower power consumption than the old oversized pumps. Tailor-made powerhouses!
