Materials Specialist - Corrosion

Are you ready to dive into the world of pumps and material science as you provide advanced technical support to colleagues across the global Grundfos organization? Join us as a corrosion specialist to help us solve the world’s water and energy challenges through innovation.

Provide advanced technical support and contribute to technology projects

As a materials specialist in the Mechanics & Materials department, you provide colleagues across the global Grundfos organization with advanced technical support within the field of corrosion. As part of the Core Technology organization, you support the entire global value chain, ranging from product development and maintenance to segments and sales. Moreover, you help scope new core technology activities based on identified technology gaps.

Reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Mechanics & Materials, you collaborate closely with material specialists within the field of corrosion. Moreover, you take part in our knowledge network, collaborating globally with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. As your expertise is occasionally required at one of our 50 sites across the globe, you travel around 10 days a year.

Specifically, your tasks include:

  • Offering technical support to colleagues across Grundfos, including root cause analysis (RCA) and application specific advice in connection with sales and product line maintenance
  • Participating in complex, multidisciplinary projects regarding technology and product development
  • Specifying and analyzing laboratory tests and supervising laboratory technicians and peers
  • Developing and maintaining knowledge databases, e.g. chemical resistance lists, based on support cases
  • Building and maintaining partnerships with (international) external parties, e.g. suppliers, partners and universities

“Working as a corrosion specialist, you get to solve a wide range of complex issues for colleagues across Grundfos. At the same time, you are part of an innovative technology organization, where you get to work with our key specialists and collaborate with experts from universities and research institutes around the world,” says Senior Manager of Mechanics & Materials, Jakob Vernersen.

Corrosion specialist with strong communication and collaboration skills

Perhaps you have a BSc combined with very solid corrosion experience, or perhaps you have an MSc or a PhD combined with a few years of practical experience. Regardless of whether you have acquired your specialist knowledge through extensive studies or practical experience, you have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a definite flair for root cause analysis. You enjoy cross-functional collaboration, and you know how to discuss corrosion with colleagues across other areas of Grundfos. Furthermore, you bring:

  • A background in mechanical, chemical or corrosion engineering, ideally from a manufacturing company
  • Hands-on experience from a laboratory environment
  • Good documentation and reporting skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Danish as well as in English

“To succeed in this role, you need to know how to drive your tasks independently, seeking out relevant stakeholders to make things happen. While you will need a strong theoretical understanding, it is essential that you also know how to work hands-on and find pragmatic solutions,” Jakob Vernersen finishes.
