Product Specialist

General Summary:

 

Reporting to the Product Manager, the Product Specialist is responsible for product promotion, planning the launch of new products and managing the cross-functional implementation of the plan and pricing. The Product Specialist collaborates with Grundfos Canada’s Market Segment teams to help drive Grundfos Canada sales.

 

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Product:

  1. Responsible for product specific to one/more markets, including pricing, launches, Master Data and training.
  2. Manage the launch of new products and releases and manage the cross-functional implementation of the plan.
  3. Ensure new products have proper approvals for sale in Canada.
  4. Responsible for demand plan and forecast for new products being launched.
  5. Collaborate with the Regional Business Development team.
  6. Collaborate with Market Segment Managers related to product.

 

Marketing:

  1. Responsible as the link to Region marketing on product, price and promotions.
  2. Coordinate Grundfos Canada market teams on product specific needs.
  3. Develop product positioning and messaging that differentiates your products in the market. Ensure our need to bilingual documentation is met.
  4. The Product Manager will collaborate with product marketing to clearly articulate the features and benefits to the market.
  5. Provide marketing support to Canadianize bulletins and support distribution of pricing and promotions.

 

Innovation:

  1. Responsible for implementation of process/product improvements.

 

 

 

Development:

  1. Actively participate in goal achievement while representing the policies, practices and culture of the Company.  Provide input for development of strategic plans and attend and participate in various meetings, and special projects as assigned.
  2. Provide effective leadership, mentorship and skills development that supports the Company values.

 

Training:

  1. Responsible to arrange/provide product training.
  2. Responsible for providing sales force with the information required to advance product sales.
  3. Create training materials and training programs for the sales team.
  4. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending product training and launches.

  1. Perform all work in compliance with company policies, procedures, legislation, regulations and direction, and identify and notify management of non-compliance situations for resolution.
  2. Participate and comply with all health and safety processes and initiatives to ensure the Company remains a safe workplace.

Education:

 

Post-secondary education equivalent to an Engineering degree or a related field, or combination of training, experience and education. PMP an asset.

Experience: 

 

Minimum of 3 years of experience with product management and pump knowledge.  5+ years’ experience leading a team.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Technical skills to size and select pumps and ability to read pump curves to compare products.
  2. Assume a high degree of responsibility in a pressure environment and possess the ability to work under tight deadlines with a high sense of urgency.
  3. Excellent understanding of all relevant business processes across functional areas.
  4. Proven ability to make presentations at a company level and to board of directors.
  5. Ability to prioritize and complete tasks to deliver desired outcomes within allotted time frames.
  6. SAP experience, ability to run reports, follow up with Finance on SCTR for products.
  7. Excel expertise to work on price lists and price analysis.
  8. Knowledge of Demand Plan.
  9. Visibility requires maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive image.
  10. Ability to define plans and organize activities necessary to reach targeted goals and utilize resources in ways that maximize their effectiveness.
  11. Willingness and ability to work in an international environment a must.
  12. Ability to interact respectfully, effectively and professionally with customers and co-workers.
  13. Motivated, self-directed, possessing a high energy level and desire to learn.
  14. Ability to rely on experience and judgment to effectively problem solve, plan and accomplish goals.
  15. Ability to identify and solve problems, and plan, organize and coordinate activities and complex analyses and work independently to manage projects.
  16. Superior proficiency in the use of MS Office, Excel and SAP are required for this position.
  17. Ability to develop professional business relationships and communicate effectively both orally and in writing in English.

 

Physical Demands:

 

The incumbent will be required to stand, walk, lifting, reaching and move frequently with shorter periods of sitting when attending meetings, when using a computer.  Lifting of product, usually not exceeding 20 pounds, bending, walking and other movements requiring stamina, strength and flexibility is required to perform the functions of the position.

 

 

 

Mental Effort:

 

This position requires multi-tasking to ensure the varied job requirements are met.  The incumbent is required to maintain a calm and professional demeanor in the face of obstacles, deadlines and ambiguity and to work within a team environment.

 

Working Conditions:

 

The duties of this position are performed in an office environment requiring sitting at a desk or in meetings for periods of time, walking around the office.

 

Condition of Employment

 

This position requires the incumbent to staying current with the latest developments related to the position and participate in skills upgrading. This position may occasionally require international travel. The incumbent must be willing to travel within and outside Canada occasionally, and must possess and maintain a valid passport.
