Service Technician

Grundfos is seeking a Service Specialist to join its Service and Aftermarket Sales team.  The Service Technician will be responsible for taking the lead on most field service assignments and in house repairs.  Additionally, the Service Specialist will assist with training of local partners on service related items, perform pump inspections, warranty related service, and energy optimization functions in the local market. This position reports directly to the Service Sales Manager and will operate daily out of the Tacoma, WA facility.  Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must have authorization to work in the USA without support.

What is the job about? 


•    Assembly and Disassembly of pumps and pumps systems in both a shop and field service environment.
•    Provide field and shop service to assigned pumps and pump systems including removal, teardown, evaluation, assembly, installation, and troubleshooting.
•    Perform onsite pump alignment using laser alignment.
•    Completion of comprehensive inspections of pumps and pump systems.
•    Ability to run a fundamental pump hydraulic test.
•    Provide local support and customer service
•    Ability to effectively take the lead, direct, and train personnel.
•    Completion of comprehensive inspections of pumps and pump systems.
•    Ability to troubleshoot pump failures, mechanical, electrical, and systematic.  Provide corrective action based on evaluation.
•    Preparation of detailed reports.
•    Communicate design issues and developments to salesmen, managers, engineers, and service manager.
•    Ensures environmental conscientiousness of all work areas.
•    Maintain and operate company tooling and equipment.
•    Perform machining functions using drill press, lathe, and mills.
•    Ability to read machining drawings and electrical schematics.
•    Install monitoring equipment on pumps and systems to identify the actual performance on site.
•    Assist in providing reports based on the data collected from the monitoring equipment.
•    Assist in proposing new and retrofit solutions based on the report findings.
•    Record and monitor each order’s labor and material consumption.
•    Ensure and control safety and quality assurance at all times.

What do you need to apply? 


Qualified candidates will possess a High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Additionally, have a high mechanical and electrical aptitude with extensive hands-on experience.

•    Experience with removal and installation of vertical and horizontal pumps and pump systems.
•    Experience with plumbing, piping, and valves.
•    Experienced in forklift operation required.
•    Good problem solving ability, hydraulically, mechanically, and electrically. 
•    Ability to manage multiple, divergent priorities, and work independently with a high degree of accuracy to meet customer requirements and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
•    Completion of Confined Space Training required.
•    May be required to be available at all times.
•    Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office including MS Excel.
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills for groups and individuals, with technical and non-technical persons.
•    Must be able to travel 20%-30% if necessary. Thus candidates should be able to maintain valid identification.
