Act Now takes action

Act Now gathered politicians, experts, business and NGOs to a session in Copenhagen. They shared experiences and got information about energy-efficient plug-and-lay solutions that can reduce carbon emissions considerably. Act NOW consists of Grundfos, Copenhagen Municipality, Concito (think tank) and the Climate Consortium, all of which want to speed up the distribution of products with low energy consumption.

- We had a constructive debate on energy-efficiency and the participants told about their experiences. We must spread the good examples to ensure we can make even more people act out their good intentions about saving energy, said initiator of Act NOW, Lisbet Bræmer-Jensen, continuing:

- If we are to obtain the global goals of reducing the world’s carbon emission, we have to act – now.

Cooperation across borders

The discussion between the participants resulted in new cooperation between, for instance, companies and universities. This means that in the next few months there will be created new cases focusing on energy-efficient solutions.

They will be published at actnow-movement.com, which is the new homepage of the partnership.
Later this year, the best cases will be collected and sent to Climate Commissioner, Connie Hedegaard, who will use them as examples of best practice within energy-efficient solutions.

Act Now Award

In addition to the discussions, Act Now Awards were given out for the first time. The awards were given to companies, organisations or individuals who have demonstrated courage and energy creating results with international appeal.

Act Now gave four awards to excellent cases within:

• Best Act Now Public sector, Danish Royal Theatre & Cowi
• Best Act Now Company, Vitens
• Best Act Now Decision Maker, Unicér Brewery and Danfoss Solution
• Best Act Now Politician, Anne Grete Holmsgaard
