Arla Foods and Grundfos BioBooster win prestigious award

Arla Foods and Grundfos has been awarded ‘Industrial Water Project of the Year’ because of the water re-use project in Rødkærsbro featuring Grundfos BioBooster.

The award was presented at the Global Water Summit, which is organised by the journal Global Water Intelligence.

It is possible for companies to apply solutions that protects the environment, even if you want to increase the production of mozzarella. This is what can be seen from the pioneering collaboration between Grundfos BioBooster and Arla Foods in Rødkærsbro, and this is also the impression held by the readers of Global Water Intelligence, which is one of the world's leading journals of the water industry. The votes of the readers ensured that the Arla Foods project was awarded 'Industrial Water Project of the Year' at the awards ceremony in Paris Monday evening.

"Reducing water consumption and improving the water environment is high on the agenda in Arla. We have been very pleased to work with Grundfos on this project, which has resulted in a unique solution at Rødkærsbro dairy. The award is a recognition of the project, and it will motivate new solutions within this area," says Jan Dalsgård Johannesen, Senior Manager, Sustainability from Arla Foods.

Arla Foods deals with the wastewater challenge by having BioBooster solutions installed at several of their production plants. The project in Rødkærsbro is pioneering in the sense, that BioBooster daily treats the 450 cubic metres of wastewater directly at the source - with the purpose of reusing it in the cheese production or sending it back to the local river. In this way, Arla uses less water while also having a more sustainable production of mozzarella.
