International group of students compete at Grundfos

During this week, a large group of students from Chinese, American and Danish Universities have worked hard at Grundfos. They are competing for the 1st place at Grundfos Challenge. Each team has qualified by winning regional competitions in their native countries in November 2012. All in all, 36 students are competing, divided into two fields: engineering and business.

In just four days, they are to come up with an innovative solution to an assignment given by Grundfos: This time they are to find a suggestion to what advantages digitalization can provide for the water- and waste water plants of the future.

- The Grundfos Challenge week is really testing the students on their theoretical knowledge from their educations. In the competition they have to prove that they can convert this into ideas which are both innovative and thought through. At the same time we get the opportunity of seeing how they work, which makes this a good platform for finding future talents, Camilla Winther, Project Manager at Grundfos, says.

Through the competition, a strengthened cooperation with – and knowledge of – the student’s universities is formed. Something, which is even more interesting when thinking about the international style of the contest.

- We are experiencing quite a lot of growth abroad, and therefore it is natural for us to establish a well-functioning cooperation with the universities in those markets. This gives us a better opportunity of gaining a larger recruitment platform and at the same time follow the local talents, Camilla Winther explains.

On Friday evening a winner is announced in each category, and each of the winning teams will receive a price of 75,000 Danish Kroner. In addition a special Innovation Prize is dealt out, which consists of 15,000 Danish Kroner.
