Small island goes green

The driver is the Energy Academy, where researchers and scientists from all over the globe are spending time researching. Here they have easy access to all the different energy systems on Samsø, such as windmills, straw-based district heating and thermal solar panels systems along with the people who initiated them.

When trying to reach this important objective, the involvement of the local community is of utmost importance in order to succeed. This is further underlined by the fact that many of the island’s private homes on their own initiative have decided to switch from traditional furnaces to individual renewable energy heating systems.
