Who am I
After graduating from college with a business major in Missouri, I gained some working experience before joining Grundfos in 2014 as an Application Engineer. Afterwards, I was a District Sales Manager for three years in Chicago before moving back home to Kansas City to be a Key Account Manager.
How I make a difference
I manage the relationships between Grundfos and our industrial water treatment customers. The premium product is what is going to set us apart from our competitors, but I am also able to take our ideas and direction and align them with our customer’s needs. I am the link between Grundfos and our customers, aligning two sets of core values and offering solutions.
Having been able to take what I have learned about water treatment and Grundfos from my previous job roles within engineering and sales and apply it to my current position, I have been quite successful in my job. And this has been recognized. My biggest accomplishment is being selected for the ‘Reach for the Stars Programme’ in 2018, which is a global recognition programme. I was invited to go to Portugal with my wife to participate in a project – that was really great and something I will remember.
What drives me
I really like to learn. And getting up every day with the opportunity to learn something new, to better myself in Grundfos, is something I truly value. Traveling quite a bit can sometimes be tiresome, but I enjoy my role and especially the people I get to work with – the people I interact with on a daily basis and the relationships that I have formed at Grundfos both locally and in the rest of the world. Working with customers is like a puzzle you got to figure out – how to differentiate yourself and Grundfos from the competitors. And it is always changing and there are always new projects, always new people. There is a lot of value to that and I see myself working at Grundfos for a very long time.
Grundfos put a lot of emphasis and resources into providing a good workplace. And with a family to care for, amazing benefits are always a plus. There is a lot of great things going on behind the scenes besides just selling a good product or solution.
That special culture
Grundfos has a great company culture with values that I appreciate in an employer. It is a real family environment where people are open and always willing to help. Willing to teach you and willing to be taught. It is a very encouraging culture where you get a lot of opportunities. I do not have a true engineering background, but Grundfos gave me the opportunity to be an engineer. Grundfos took a chance hiring me and it has opened doors and taken me places that other companies have not – especially on a global level.
I once hit a homerun of Max Scherzer, the best pitcher in baseball.
Who am I
I have a bachelor in Management Science from Manchester and a master in International Marketing from Strathclyde University in Glasgow. I joined Grundfos in 2005, and I have enjoyed seeing the company evolve as well as my career, being on my fifth job in Grundfos. I am especially proud of the work my team and I did almost 10 years ago, when we put special focus on growing our presence and capabilities in India, the Middle East, Africa and South America. It is amazing for me to see what they have become today. Not to mention the four years I spent as a sales manager in Grundfos Brazil. Grundfos is a dynamic company and new opportunities arise all the time.
How I make a difference
My most important role as a manager is to remove obstacles and ensure that my team evolves and flourish with their projects, as a team and as individuals. I feel I am part of the best team in Grundfos, because we have an impact on the daily lives of all our 6,500 colleagues supporting customers around the world. We develop tools, training concepts, support systems to help them give a better experience to our customers. And we ensure that the voice of customers is heard clearly when they give praise and criticism of our service. My team makes an important contribution to the success of our sales force.
A match of values
What makes the difference for me is the topic of water. Before I joined Grundfos, I worked in Nicaragua where access to safe water can be a real struggle and I saw first-hand the impact that water has on a community. That was partly what made me choose to work at Grundfos. A company that I can relate to with a vision and purpose that goes beyond just selling products, but instead driving change in the world. It is what convinced me to join in my early days and what keeps me motivated every day.
That something special
Having travelled and visited many Grundfos locations, I have learnt that we share something special - the Grundfos spirit. A strong, unique and very present culture no matter what corner of the company you visit. You can feel it when being with a colleague. It is a family feeling. We have a purpose larger than ourselves and we all have the same goal, making a difference. Essentially, it is all about the people. Working in the way we do, all with the same Grundfos spirit. We know we do something important and that ties us together. The culture defines us as a company.
I picked up playing ukulele some years ago and travel with it – also on business trips. It is great traveling with music.
