Euma: Grundfos MTH pumps solve leakage problems

Euma Spinner Corporation of Taichung City, Taiwan, is one of the country’s biggest manufacturers of vertical and horizontal CNC machines. Leaking of coolant is a familiar, yet irritating and costly problem with this type of machine, caused mostly by operator carelessness.

Euma Spinner Corporation was one of the first companies to adopt the new Grundfos MTH pump for their production of technically advanced CNC machinery. The MTH pumps are easy to install, easy to operate, and leakage free.

The Situation
Euma Spinner Corporation was formed as a partnership between Taiwanbased Euma and Spinner  erkzeugmaschinenfabrik GmbH of Germany. The Euma Spinner Corporation currently employs some 60 people and
has an annual turnover in excess of USD 14 million.

The company specialises in the manufacture of state-of-the-art CNC machines, which are being exported to many parts of the world. Each machine incorporates a minimum of three Grundfos MTH machine tool pumps. The Euma Spinner machines were originally fitted with some
multistage centrifugal pumps, however, the pumps was found to be unsuitable for Euma Spinner’s line of production and instead the Grundfos MTH range was found to be the ideal choice.

The Grundfos Solution
The Grundfos range of coolant pumps comprises a series of high-performance multistage centrifugal pumps, capable of delivering from 1 to 80 m3/h at a pressure up to 25 bar. The coolant pumps are specifically designed for reliable, trouble-free running under the most demanding
circumstances.

The Grundfos MTH pumps are an extension of the well-established Grundfos range. The MTH pumps are capable of delivering from 8 to 22 m3/h – double that of the existing range.

As Euma Spinner Corporation discovered the MTH pumps are the correct choice when emphasis is on compact size, high performance, and reliable leakage-free operation.

The Outcome
Prior to switching to the Grundfos MTH range, the Euma Spinner machines were troubled by coolant leakage, often caused by operator carelessness, resulting in costly and irritating after-sales service.

The MTH pumps not only solved these problems, but in spite of being some 20% more expensive than the previous solution, switching to these new Grundfos pumps has boosted the company’s turnover, while substantially reducing installation costs and after-sales service.

The outcome has been improved customer relations, a larger turnover, and a more profitable operation.
