Overview

The situation
To measure the internal pressure and temperature of the primary and secondary return and supply coolant. 

Why new solution? 
We wanted to replace dedicated temperature and pressure sensors with Grundfos’ dual purpose sensors. We also increased our temperature accuracy by having a solution that is immersed in the coolant. The RPS line was a cost and space-saving alternative, with improved accuracy.

The Grundfos solution
CoolIT Systems Rack DCLC™ CHx80 Coolant Distribution Unit example: RPS 0-4 pressure/temperature sensors are installed in four locations of the CHx80 CDU: Primary Return / Primary Supply / Secondary Return / Secondary Supply.
The application did not call for a customized solution, although we required sensors that would withstand condensation due to the Primary circuit operating under dew point.
Accuracy, minimal space requirements, simple analog interface and cost effectiveness made this the right solution.

The outcome
CoolIT Systems has standardized on the RPS sensors for its next generation Control Systems used in the following Coolant Distribution Units: AHx10, CHx80 and next generation.
