Grundfos makes changes to Group Management
After almost 26 year, Group Executive Vice President, Søren Ø. Sørensen, 55 years old, leaves the pump manufacturer Grundfos at the end of the year. Søren Ø. Sørensen has been responsible for sales, marketing and service and a member of Grundfos’ top management since 2003.
“I have had an amazing career in an amazing company for quite a few years, so now I wish to pursue some other dreams of mine and change tracks, among others by serving board assignments for other companies. I have reached a point where I want to try out these dreams while I still can. I am looking very much forward to this, even though it is with sadness and gratitude after a lot of great years at Grundfos”, Søren Ø. Sørensen explains and continues:
“I have been on board during good and bad times. I have pushed the sales organisation of more than 6,000 people forward in all corners of the world. It has been a tremendous journey – in regards to both business and career. I will not hold back the fact that Grundfos has taken up a lot of space in my life. And I am very proud of having been a part of creating the many outstanding results, but at the same time, I am also humble and grateful that I have been of use”, says Søren Ø. Sørensen.
When Søren Ø. Sørensen joined Grundfos back in 1989, the group had a turnover of 2.0 billion Danish kroner. Now it is close to 25 billion. In 1989, he came to Grundfos as head of marketing after a career in Danfoss. Later on, he took over several areas of responsibility and, among other things, also managed to serve a term as Managing Director of Grundfos in Japan.
“Søren has been an invaluable asset to Grundfos through a lot of years. He is an excellent salesman and leader and has the ability to manage and strengthen our immense sales and marketing organisation and employees, in order for us to win market shares and get a firm hold of vital markets. Søren has a drive that creates results. We will miss him. Grundfos is deeply grateful to him for his efforts and we wish him all the best of luck in his future endeavours”, says Grundfos’ Group President, Mads Nipper.
Søren Ø. Sørensen does not resign until the end of the year and will still have the responsibility of reaching the sales ambitions and budgets for 2014. However, Group President, Mads Nipper, has already appointed a successor. New Group Senior Vice President and member of Group Management will be Poul Due Jensen who has just returned to headquarters after many years as Regional Director for Asia and Pacific based in Singapore.
“Poul has known Grundfos since he was a child. He has worked in several managerial positions with sales and marketing in among others Asia, Australia, New Zealand, the US and Canada, and has built up a vast experience and global knowledge. Poul is the obvious and natural successor after Søren, and it therefore pleases me, that Poul has accepted to take on the task from the turn of the year”, says head of Grundfos, Mads Nipper.
