Successful opening of the new factory in Serbia
07-Jul-2011
The great Grundfos sign at the end of the road that leads to the industrial district can not be mistaken. We are now in place in the Serbian town, Nova Pazova, which is approximately 35 km. from the capital Belgrade. This was celebrated at an official opening of the factory Wednesday afternoon, where a delegation from Denmark, Serbian business partners and local politicians where among the guests.
General Manager of Grundfos Serbia, Jim Toft Nielsen, gave thanks to all involved partners and emphasised the teamwork at the factory and the close collaboration with the authorities.
- This could not have been accomplished without talented and dedicated employees as well as support from the local authorities, he said.
Great success
The 39 local employees along with employees from Denmark have slaved for months to get production functioning optimally. And on this sunny afternoon they proudly display the UP line 1, which produced the last pump in Bjerringbro on the 11th of March 2011. Only one month later the first pump was produced in Serbia.
150 guests showed up to celebrate the transfer from Bjerringbro to Nova Pazova. Among them was Serbia’s Deputy Prime Minister Verica Kalanovic and Vojvodina’s President Bojan Pajtic, who where delighted that Grundfos had decided to start up production in Serbia. The Danish ambassador, Mette Kjuel Nielsen, also gave out praises to Grundfos:
- I am proud that Grundfos has settled down here in Serbia, and it is a step in the right direction for the country.
Global cooperation
Executive Vice President, Lars Aagaard, explained that the global cooperation is an indication of how our revitalized values are acted out.
- We do a great deal of preparatory work, before we settle down in a new country, and today I can see that we made the right choice. The teamwork between Danish and Serbian employees has been outstanding and the outcome is an excellent factory, he said and repaid for the efforts by presenting Jim Toft Nielsen with a painting.
After the five speakers had cut over the red ribbon and Lars Aagaard had officially declared Grundfos Serbia to be open, all guests where given a tour of the factory, which currently produces between 2,600 and 2,700 pumps a day. The aim is the reach a daily output of 3,000 pumps a day.
