Grundfos steps up to tackle the global climate crisis

Intelligent solutions coupled with concrete actions are key in Grundfos’ efforts to effectively impact the global water- and climate challenges.

The global climate crisis is imminent. Societies across the world are facing issues connected to this, specifically on water and global warming. Mitigating this takes efforts from all parts of society, including public and private stakeholders.

“The water- and climate crisis is crucially important to solve. Our planet and future generations depend on it. As a company, which can have a real impact in handling this, we see it as our obligation to act,” says Mads Nipper, CEO of Grundfos.

In the Grundfos Strategy 2025, the company introduces an ambition to become climate positive. To reduce its carbon footprint by 50 % by 2025, compared to 2008 levels. Grundfos will also help their suppliers reduce their footprints. An ambition of cutting its own water consumption by 50 % by 2025 compared to 2008 levels is also part of the strategy.

“And this is only focusing on our own part of the world. We are expanding our scope, and apart from acting sustainably in-house, we will also ramp up our efforts in our surrounding communities,” says Mads Nipper.

Towards 2030, Grundfos will help provide water for 300 million people, who today do not have access to it, and through intelligent water management save 50 billion cubic metres of fresh water.

“All the while, we will continue pushing the boundaries of energy efficiency in pumps, making sure that every new pump installed will use less electricity than the one, it replaces. We will also develop and refine digital solutions, some of which, the world has never seen, that will enable us to reach our ambitions,” says Mads Nipper.

“We cannot do this alone. We must collaborate with suppliers, customers and partners to turn ambitions into reality. We will only achieve this together. And we must act now,” Mads Nipper concludes.

We are pioneers

We want to  be climate positive. Through our solutions and through our actions we will ensure water access for more people around the world, safeguard our precious water resources and make a positive and lasting impact on the global climate challenges.

We pioneer solutions to the world’s water and climate challenges and improve quality of life for people.

Water and digitalization

We will develop and refine new, digital solutions, which will make us capable of ensuring water for the world.

Exemplary projects from around the world

Partnering for water

Across the world, we are collaborating with key partners to make sure that people gain access to water.

In East Africa countries such as Kenya, Uganda and many others we are working with blended finance models to ensure that otherwise resource-strained utilities can supply people in their municipalities and regions with safe drinking water

One of these places is Bugoba village in the Buikwe District, Uganda, where Iceland collaborated with the local Buikwe district government, NGO Water Mission Uganda and Grundfos, the solution provider collaborated to make safe water available.
