For main pumping stations in large distribution networks where water volume is high, the Grundfos Demand Driven Distribution controller provides pressure control, gradual ramp-up and ramp-down, the cascade operation of up to six pumps and works with all pump types, including single or two-stage horizontal split-case pumps.
Grundfos HS/HSE single or two-stage horizontal split-case pumps combine tremendous strength with ease of service. More compact than their competitors and yet with higher flow than other pump types, the HS/HSE helps keep the pipe layout simple, with suction pressure and operating pressure available as required.
The Demand Driven Distribution controller connected to network pressure sensors via the GSM network allows control of the pumps in accordance with data logged on a daily basis via an adaptive control algorithm. The measured data are then used for adaptive control of the pumping station, keeping the pressure in the network at the desired value, without troublesome analysis and re-configurations of the system to maintain proper operation. Pressure management is one of the key technologies to improve the operation of water distribution networks. To obtain the best possible pressure management, the network pressure must be measured and the pumping station controlled according to these measurements. However, online communication between the network pressure sensors and the pumping station is expensive and hard to set into operation. Grundfos Demand Driven Distribution places battery-driven network pressure sensors in critical areas of the distribution network to do just this. Data are transmitted once during the day and the power requirements for the network pressure sensors are therefore extremely low. This ensures a low maintenance, long lifetime solution.
The measured data are then used in a smart adaptive approach that controls the pumping station, keeping the pressure in the network at the desired value, without troublesome analysis and re-configurations of the system to obtain proper operation.
