Meet Elena - our digital wizard

Elena Ciobanu, Frontend Developer

Who am I
I have a bachelor in Computer Science and a master in Programming and Multimedia Design. I joined Grundfos, because I wanted to be a part of the digital journey as a Frontend Developer in 2017. My dream is to work for a large company, where I can meet and learn from a lot of different colleagues, who are more experienced than me. This makes Grundfos a great fit for me.

How I make a difference
As a Frontend Developer, I work on implementing the user interfaces of our digital offerings. Moreover, I create the connection to the backend that delivers the data and translates it into visuals that is accessible to the customers. Our solutions are providing water and driving change in the world, which is really important. And being able to give face to those water pumps is even more exciting. The user interfaces are the first thing our customers see and makes the first impression. It is super important that a user interface is something our customers can interact with.

What drives me
I love the technical part of my job, but also the business case behind what we are building, the goals, and the visions of the projects. It is not something that is already out there. We are making a difference with the digital offerings we bring to our customers. It is great being a part of this new journey and having the power to influence and create change – to have a say in what is going on.

On my toes
Our Digital Transformation Office is a cool, open space office with different people from all over the world. I really enjoy the way we are structured in scrum teams, where you have a product owner and a scrum master. This team culture is super flexible, and each team has a goal and a vision they are working towards. We are all developers in the department and can easily share knowledge and help each other. This is helpful, as we work within constant change, which is really interesting and keeps me challenged and on my toes. We have the flexibility and freedom to use the tools we find best. And we keep up to date with everything that is happening out there while challenging and developing ourselves.

Fun fact
Me and my team build a fireplace out of cardboard and a tv in one evening for Christmas to hang our stockings at the office.

Meet Lishuai – our sports-loving technology enthusiast

Lishui Jing, Senior Data Scientist

Who am I
I have a Ph.D. in Telecommunication at Aalborg University and experience as a post doc and an Application Engineer. Today, I work as a Data Scientist and I am very thrilled to be part of our digital journey in Grundfos.

How I make a difference
With a statistical signal processing background, I research and apply Machine Learning and Deep Learning techniques to Grundfos applications by using different cloud computing platforms. My work with customer intelligence makes it possible for Grundfos to know more about customer behaviour and thereby personalize their experience on our digital platforms and touchpoints. I am also regularly in touch with universities, turning academia into practice to see how it fits into Grundfos applications.

On a journey together
I began my own journey in Grundfos around the same time as we began our digital journey, meaning that I have been part of it from almost day one. Since then, our digital office has grown bigger and bigger. I have enjoyed being part of all the experiences along the way and wish to continue this journey for much longer, as I like the way Grundfos works with larger goals. We spend a lot of resources and energy on developing digital competencies for the future.

What drives me
The people. And the technology. I am motivated by improving what we have done on our journey so far. To see how far, we can go. There are always new projects, new challenges and no days are alike, which is really exciting. It feels great being part of the innovation process in a place, where you can make your own decisions and work with state-of-the-art tools.

And then there is, of course, my team. I love working with data together with my colleagues in the Analytics and AI department. In general, there is a transparent culture with people sharing what they know and helping each other. It is a great place to work – even with two small kids at home. Grundfos makes it easier to balance work and family time, which I highly value.

Fun fact
I love sports and was once the top scorer of a football match during my bachelor’s - one in a lifetime experience.
