Dynamic pressure

In a closed, pressurised system with a circulating media, the total pressure consists of two elements:

  • a static pressure
  • a dynamic pressure.

The dynamic pressure indicates the amount of the total pressure that results from the media’s velocity in the pipes.
The dynamic pressure is calculated using the following formula:
     pd = 0,5 x ρ x v²
     ρ (rho) = the density of the media
     v = mean velocity in the pipe.
The dynamic pressure is used for calculating pressure loss in pipe systems.
