Water hammering is a pressure surge caused by a rapid change in flow velocity in the pipeline.
Due to the modern design and manufacturing process, the motors currently in use often become hotter during operation than motors used in the past.
The EF and SE pumps are equipped with motors cooled by the surrounding pumped medium. In order for the motors to be adequately cooled, the EF and SE pumps must always be completely submerged in the pumped medium during operation.
There are several reasons as to why the permitted full load current could be exceeded when operating the pump:
Grundfos industrial pumps can be equipped with a wide variety of mechanical seals.
Pure, low-viscosity, non-explosive media without solid matter or long fibres.
The flow switch only causes the MQ to switch off automatically during normal operation if the flow rate drops below 0.07 m³/h.
The MQ is equipped with both an internal flow switch and an external pressure switch.
The operating instructions provided with every Grundfos product contain relevant troubleshooting information.
The problem may relate to the pressure switch (press control), since deposits can cause it to malfunction.
