Meet Angela - our multilingual manager

Angela Yeung, Global Service Product Manager

Who am I

I started school as a chemistry major, but decided to move into chemical engineering to get some more real life action outside of laboratory. I’m originally from Hong Kong, and moved to Los Angeles during my teens and later on to Michigan for college. My career has relocated me to 4 cities within the US and I ended back on the West coast in Seattle. Now my family and I are relocated once again and are now based in Denmark!

How I make a difference

Sales and after-sales service are part of the foundation of a good customer experience. The two functions complement each other for the ultimate Grundfos customer journey. My experience in the sales area equipped me with the background and network, in providing feedback and advice to my service customers. I ensure that there is no missing gap during the customer’s journey from purchasing a new Grundfos product to caring and maintaining their pride purchase.

My journey within Grundfos

I joined Grundfos in April 2013 as Technical Sales Engineer, traveling and learning from very experienced colleagues, who did not hesitate to provide the much appreciated mentorship. As I was seeking out more responsibilities and challenges, my manager leveraged my previous work and relationship building skill sets and offered me the opportunity to keep growing in Grundfos, as a Key Account Manager for Industry/Water Treatment. My colleagues and managers all supported me through the different positions, especially as I started a new Branch Manager position right after my first maternity leave. After my second maternity leave, I was looking for a global opportunity. I’m now a Global Service Product Manager, managing our service product portfolio and developing new products and offerings that suit and adapt to the changing after-sales market demand.

What drives me

My colleagues at Grundfos are one of the things that excite me about work every day. We have some of the best talent globally. The ideas, the conversations, the experiences and talents are all energizing me to do more and be better. It’s never aggressive or demanding, but an invigorating and inspiring environment that elevate everyone to grow together. “Inclusive and collaborative “ are the words we use, but the relationship and culture behind these words run much deeper.

Something special

A big reason Grundfos is a unique company in this industry is how they have supported me as someone new to parenthood. I was able to take advantage of the new bonding leave policy which are unexemplary in this more traditional industry. My managers never saw parenthood and maternity leave as obstacles, but a new pivot point in my career to learn and grow differently. It was reassuring to know my company values both my career and my home responsibilities just the same.

What makes me proud

I moved into a new position as a manager right after returning from my maternity leave. It was a very demanding time in my life and a challenging position with a lot of expectations to turn things around quickly. I did not have specific previous experiences but my manager saw my potential and believed in me. With his support and the team’s effort, we regained some of our biggest customers and landed key projects that have repositioned us entirely in the playing field. A lot of noise was generated from our success. We persisted with our principles and aligned our goals with all parties to create a more cohesive partnership with all. I was nominated and won the Reach For The Stars talent award for the top sales people in the organization, and even took home the special Endurance Award for my commitment and performing under pressure.

Fun fact

I speak multiple dialects of Chinese including Cantonese, Shanghainese and of course Mandarin. I also speak conversational Japanese and on my way to learning Danish!
