Grundfos Distributed Pumping Wins Two Awards from Engineered Systems Magazine and FacilitiesNet

HOUSTON, Dec. 2, 2022 – Grundfos Distributed Pumping was selected as one of the Commercial Comfort Products (CCP) of the Year Award winners in the Pumps & Flow Controls category by Engineered Systems Magazine. The program honors the most efficient, compatible and unique products of 2022, as voted by a panel of professional engineers. Additionally, the product was selected as the Vision Awards winner from FaciltiesNet to honor innovation and excellence in products that contribute to the efficient and profitable operations and management of institutional and commercial buildings in the United States.

Grundfos Distributed Pumping is a hydronic system design that optimizes the entire HVAC system while improving occupant comfort. It replaces energy-wasting balance and control valves in HVAC systems with intelligent, reliable and maintenance-free pumps that generate pressure only when and where it’s needed.

“We’re proud to receive this recognition,” said Greg Bretz, president and general manager of Grundfos Commercial Buildings. “Distributed pumping is not just an energy savings opportunity which can save users over 50% in pump energy. The benefits include more efficient chiller operation, smaller physical space required in the mechanical room for primary pumps and less maintenance for all major HVAC components.”

Removing the balancing and control valves and replacing them with small horsepower intelligent pumps has multiple HVAC system benefits. It significantly reduces the time consuming and costly process of balancing the HVAC system. It also ensures a continuously balanced HVAC system years later. This translates to improved building comfort.

“The automatic & constant HVAC system rebalancing that limit the capital expenses of today’s traditional HVAC systems are great benefits,” explained Pete Korzeniewski, business development manager for commercial buildings at Grundfos. “Grundfos Distributed Pumping is a seamless and needed transition for designing HVAC systems.”
