District Sales Manager

 

General Summary:

 

This position’s primary focus is to increase Grundfos’ market share in Commercial (Building Services, Industrial) pump markets in BC.  This position will be required to support market share growth across the Region, collaborating with others in Western Canada. The DSM is expected to continue to build strong relationships with Wholesalers, distributors, contractors & engineers within the region.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  1. The DSM is to be the brand, live the brand and present the brand, by building relationships throughout the entire sales channel.
  2. Responsible for calling on existing and potential new accounts (Distributors, Key Accounts. etc.), with a focus on building the brand through a distributor network.
  3. The DSM is expected to understand the market position of Grundfos products in their target markets and contribute to ensuring that the most advantageous price structure is put forward to maximize CTR and customer value.
  4. Provide sales support to all customers to facilitate and add value to the selling process.
  5. Continually develop knowledge of the geography, markets, applications and accounts including market specific drivers, key decision makers, competitors, and economic conditions.  Develop, maintain and execute a territory plan to grow the business and increase market share.
  6. Assess current distribution channels, develop and evaluate their performance and manage conflict ensuring alignment with territory plans.
  7. Provide/facilitate training on products, applications and sales process to all levels of the sales channel.
  8. Develop, maintain and execute sales and expense forecast.
  9. The DSM develops strong relationships with key decision makers at existing and target accounts, engineering firms and distribution channels in coordination and cooperation with colleagues when markets overlap across distribution channels.
  10. The DSM proactively strives to maximize Grundfos’ presence in their focused engineering accounts by ensuring that all possible Grundfos products are applied.
  11. The DSM participates in global, market specific, network meetings and interfaces with key product and other management personnel from sister companies and the Denmark BDC.
  12. Perform sales administration tasks such as maintaining customer database, documenting sales contacts, and pricing matrix.
  13. Learn and use Grundfos account management tools and processes.
  14. Prepare reports as required.
  15. Provide leadership pertaining to quality and quantity of work performed.
  16. Perform all work in compliance with company policies, procedures, legislation, regulations and direction, and identify and notify management of non-compliance situations for resolution.
  17. Comply with all health and safety initiatives to ensure the Company remains a safe workplace.

 

Education: 

 

Degree or Diploma in an engineering or technologist capacity specializing in mechanical, electrical or similar engineering discipline or a combination of experience, education (such as CET) and training.

 

Experience: 

Candidate must possess a minimum of 5 years of Commercial and Industrial sales or equivalent experience.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  1.  This position requires enthusiasm, a sense of urgency, initiative and results-orientation.
  2. In-depth knowledge of the industrial, commercial and municipal markets and a general knowledge of the other target markets.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of pumps and pumping systems.
  4. Understanding of profit and loss accounting and the basic flow of revenue in an organization.
  5. Ability to start with “the end in mind”, then work backwards to develop strategies, action plans, and goal measurements.
  6. Ability to work respectfully and effectively with external and internal stakeholders.
  7. Demonstrated business maturity and acumen, a strong work ethic, a positive and professional approach even under trying circumstances.
  8. Ability to develop and deliver effective product presentations to both internal and external customers.
  9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language to various levels of customers, engineering and management audiences.
  10. Strong technical competency and accuracy, and proven problem solving skills.
  11. Analytical and systematic approach to business processes.
  12. Excellent PC skills with above average knowledge and use of Microsoft Office application programs (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) as well as an aptitude for learning and applying new systems and programs.

 

Physical Demands:

 

The incumbent is in a seated position for prolonged periods of time with occasional twisting to reach equipment on desk, performs simple grasping, listens with sufficient acuity to perform all aspects of the job, and occasionally lifts product or other material up to 50 lbs.

 

Working Conditions:

 

The duties of this position are performed part days in an office environment requiring driving and/or sitting at a desk or in meetings for long periods of time, with part time on site at customer locations.

 

Condition of Employment

 

This position requires the incumbent to staying current with the latest technology and participate in skills upgrading. This position may occasionally require international travel. The incumbent be willing to travel within and outside Canada occasionally, and must possess and maintain a valid passport.
