Senior Signal processing specialist for Condition Monitoring

Are you passionate about signal processing and motivated by developing new technologies that contribute to solving the world’s water and climate challenges? Grundfos has a strong focus on digitalization and sensors and sensor solutions are a natural part of that journey. You will play an important role in developing new and exciting condition monitoring solutions to our pumps.

What do we offer?

The position is in the sensors department, where you will join our other signal processing specialist. The department is responsible for developing and demonstrating new technologies within sensors and sensor integration as an enabler for the digital offerings – here condition monitoring plays a significant role in helping our customers to optimize their service schedules and the operation of the applications where they operate our pumps.

The department consists of a mix of mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, physicists and signal processing specialists, thus cross-disciplinary work is part of the department’s DNA. As the integration of these factors in our pumps is crucial to our success, we work hands-on to make demos, lab tests etc. to get the best solutions.

” We work across fields of competence and spar with each other, so you will get a broad understanding of electronics, mechanics and material science while using and developing your expertise within signal processing.” explains Michael.

What is the job about?

As our new signal processing specialist, you will be responsible for signal processing in relation to our condition monitoring activities and to participate in development projects as a specialist

You will spend most of your time working on signal processing and algorithms for condition monitoring. Sensors for condition monitoring will primarily be based on accelerometers, ultrasonic elements, magnetic coils and internal parameters from the pump controller. Validation of the signal processing algorithms are a natural part of your work, and together with your colleagues in the project your job is to deliver a complete solution, consisting of hardware, mechanics and algorithms.

“Signal processing and algorithms are of utmost importance to our sensor solutions. The ability to enhance and extract information from the sensors is essential for Grundfos future success within this area. Your challenge is that the sensor hardware must often be frugal and cost effective, while the expectations to the quality and validity of the signal is high. You will have to work in cross disciplinary teams to achieve the best optimum in cost, performance and design.” says Michael.

What do you need to apply?

You have a technical background such as a M.Sc or Ph.D within signal processing. You have +5 years of work experience within signal processing and condition monitoring and know what it takes to bring a product to the market. We expect you to have a solid signal processing toolbox incl neural networks and joint time-frequency signal analysis, to be fluent in either MATLAB or Python. You have a good mathematical foundation to utilize your signal processing toolbox and to be able to extract as much information of weak sensor signals as possible.

If you have practical experience working with sensors or hardware, it is a plus but not a prerequisite. You speak and write English fluently.

On a personal level, you are outgoing and enjoy working together with direct colleagues and other parts of the organisation. You are structured and conscientious - ensuring high-quality and timely deliverables – but at the same time you have the flexibility to support more projects at the same time and handle changes in the project portfolio. Finally, it is essential that you have the curiosity and willingness to continuously learn and build your knowledge and skills,” finishes Michael.

The position will be on senior or lead level, based on the applicants experience and competences.
