Serving on the board since 2016, Carsten is an independent senior advisor with more than three decades’ experience in the global automotive and commercial vehicle industry. He has held senior executive positions at leading vehicle manufacturers and Tier 1 suppliers and successfully led a variety of complex business transformations.
Carsten served as president and chief executive officer of Voith Turbo, a supplier of advanced drivetrain technologies from 2012 until 2016. Prior to that, he served as COO of Meritor Inc. and as President of Meritor’s Commercial Vehicle Division from 2006 until 2011. Before joining Meritor, Carsten served as President and CEO of Detroit Diesel Corporation from 2003 until 2006, following a variety of management positions at Daimler Trucks North America, Freightliner and Western Star Trucks. He started his career as a management trainee at Mercedes-Benz AG in 1993.
Today, Carsten also serves as Vice Chairman and member of the Supervisory Board of SAF-Holland SE, member of the Board of Directors of Stoneridge Inc., Chairman of the Advisory Board of tmax Holding GmbH, member of the Advisory Board of Beinbauer Automotive GmbH, and member of the board of Samson AG.
Carsten earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Esslingen University and a master’s degree in automotive engineering from the University of Hertfordshire, UK.
