ALPHA COMFORT SYSTEM installation

Learn how to install the ALPHA COMFORT SYSTEM pump in a hot water recirculation system. Gain insight into how and where to install the pump and the COMFORT valve.

In this module, we will cover practical installation guidance for the ALPHA COMFORT SYSTEM pump in a hot water recirculation system.
We'll discuss how and where to install the ALPHA COMFORT SYSTEM pump and the COMFORT valve.
Let’s get started.

Ensure you have all the relevant items provided in the box:
An ALPHA COMFORT SYSTEM pump and a COMFORT valve kit which should include:
A COMFORT valve
2 adapters and 2 flex hoses
Got them all? Good, let’s continue.
Let’s start with the ALPHA COMFORT SYSTEM.

Step 1: locate the hot water line leaving the water heater
This is where the pump needs to be mounted.
Turn the water heater off and release the pressure.
Proceed with caution as the water may be scalding hot.

Step 2: mount the pump
Identify the arrows on the pump housing. They indicate the flow direction through the pump.
Mount the pump on the pipe and ensure you install the pump with a horizontal motor shaft within ± 5°.
Screw the connector into the pipe and tighten."

Step 3: line cord positioning
The standard position of the line cord is the 9 o’clock position.
When installing the ALPHA COMFORT SYSTEM, you can position the line cord in the 3… 6…. 9… or 12 o’clock position.

If you need to change the position of the line cord:
Remove the four bolts.
Turn the pump head to the desired position.
Insert and cross-tighten the bolts.

Now let’s look at the COMFORT valve.

Step 1: locate the furthest fixture from the water heater. This is where the COMFORT valve must be installed.
Step 2: disconnect the risers

Close the angle stop valves for the hot and cold water below the sink.
Disconnect the risers.

Step 3: install the COMFORT valve
Connect the included flex hoses to the ports on the COMFORT valve marked HOT IN and COLD IN.
Then, connect the existing hose from the right side of the tap to the COLD OUT port of the COMFORT valve.
Next, connect the existing hose from the left side of the tap to the HOT OUT port of the COMFORT valve.
Then, connect the hose from the HOT IN side of the COMFORT valve to the left angle stop.
After that, connect the hose from the COLD IN side of the COMFORT valve to the right angle stop. If needed, use the adapters provided in the COMFORT valve kit.

Finally, open the angle stop valve for both the hot and cold water and check for leaks. Once you’re happy with the installation, you can download the Grundfos GO app, connect to the pump via Bluetooth, and use the guided setup to complete installation or set up a schedule.
That covers our installation guidance for the ALPHA COMFORT SYSTEM pump.
