A variable frequency drive (VFD) can lower energy consumption at your wastewater pumping station, but the VFD on its own is not enough. You also need an intelligent pump controller such as Grundfos Dedicated Controls.
Dedicated Controls can, for example, optimize the specific energy at a pumping station by measuring the specific energy at a given speed during each pump run. It then compares results from different pump runs, deciding on the optimal pump speed and continuously updating this setting as operating conditions change.
Dedicated Controls can also observe a set minimum speed to keep sediments moving, and it can temporarily speed up the pump to deal with heavy rainfall.
