Extracting water from sand-sensitive aquifers

When there is a risk of a high sand and silt content in a submersible water intake application, pump start-up can become a problem. We recommend using a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD), so you get a slow pump-start ramp-up. This minimizes disturbance of the sand and silt layer and using the VFD ensures this remains so by setting a low maximum flow. Adding Grundfos Remote Management means your system is monitored, further maintaining a steady clean water flow.

Protecting the pump is important in a sand and silt environment, and this is done effectively with Silicon bearings and a triple seal around the pump, to reduce wear. Watch the video and see how we do this.

Ensuring correct flow from the well

When extracting water from sand-sensitive aquifers, flow considerations are very important.
