Zairil Khir Johari
Penang State Executive Councillor for Infrastructure, Transport and Digital
From 2013 to 2018, Zairil was the Member of Parliament for Bukit Bendera, during which he was also the Democratic Action Party’s (DAP) Parliamentary Spokesperson for Education, Science and Technology.
Zairil is a graduate of the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, where he received his Master of Arts in international studies and diplomacy, graduating with merit. Prior to that, he attended Multimedia University in Cyberjaya, graduating with a Bachelor of IT (Hons) in information systems engineering.
In February 2011, Zairil was appointed Political Secretary to the Secretary-General of the DAP, Lim Guan Eng. He served in this capacity until his election into the Central Executive Committee (CEC) in December 2012. Zairil is currently the Vice-Chairman of DAP Penang, a post he was elected to in December 2013.
From 2012 to 2016, Zairil headed the Penang Institute, a state-funded public policy think tank. Under his leadership, the Penang Institute convened numerous international conferences and lectures, besides publishing the Penang Paradigm, a development blueprint for the state of Penang. He now continues to serve as a Senior Fellow of the institute.
Zairil has a keen interest in national education, federalism and identity politics. He writes extensively on these issues and in 2017 published his first book, Finding Malaysia: Making Sense of an Eccentric Nation. He has also authored book chapters for a number of major publications and served as a member of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Editorial Advisory Board for The Parliamentarian and the Journal of Commonwealth Parliaments.
In 2014, Zairil was selected as a global “Leader of Tomorrow” for the 44th St Gallen Symposium in Switzerland, an annual conference aimed at fostering inter-generational and inter-cultural dialogue between the decision-makers of today and tomorrow. In 2017, Zairil was chosen to participate in the prestigious UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s International Leaders Programme, an initiative that connects future leaders from emerging power countries. In the same year, he was also invited to attend the Young Political Leaders Programme by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, as well as the Leaders in Governance Programme, which is the Singapore Civil Service College’s flagship course for senior public servants. In 2023, Zairil was conferred the Institution of Engineers Malaysia’s (IEM) Honorary Fellow Award in recognition of his “contribution to the engineering profession” during his tenure as Penang State Executive Councillor.
Yub Shin

Yub Shin is a global expert in sustainability and semiconductors, with over 20 years of consulting experience across high-tech and manufacturing. He has advised leading semiconductor manufacturers on benchmarking operations, emissions reduction, ESG strategies, and new business development. Yub brings unique insights into how fabs and their ecosystems can accelerate progress toward net zero while enhancing competitiveness.
Therese Noorlander
Director, Industry Sustainability, Grundfos
Therese Noorlander, MSc., holds a degree in Business Administration from Erasmus University in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and has expertise in marketing communication, change management, reputation management and sustainability.
Therese has over 17 years of experience in the public and private sectors, working in change management, communication, and sustainability for companies such as Heineken, The Coca-Cola Company, and the LEGO Group. At Grundfos, she leads global sustainability initiatives for Grundfos Industry, guiding the division toward meeting its commitments to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) by 2030 and the Net Zero commitment by 2050.
Therese's responsibilities include enabling energy and water-efficient solutions and facilitating market implementation through collaboration with customers, policymakers and other relevant stakeholders. Her work aims to support Grundfos in developing its portfolio and maintaining a leading position in sustainable value creation. Internally, Therese works to foster a culture of sustainability in action and encourages colleagues to communicate the company's sustainability impact.
She advocates a “water fit for purpose” philosophy, emphasizing the importance of valuing, conserving, and efficiently using water as a resource. This approach informs her efforts to implement solutions aimed at optimizing water usage across industries.
As a member of the Industry Division team, Therese contributes a global perspective to Grundfos Industry’s overall strategy and vision.
Pravinganesha Rajoo
Deputy Director, Sustainability Division, Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA)
With a degree in Electronics Engineering and an MBA, Pravinganesha has a robust educational background that complements his extensive professional experience in investment and sustainabilit
Since joining MIDA in 2007, he has worked in various capacities and started as the assistant director in the Electronics Industry Division. In 2013, he was appointed as the Deputy Director of MIDA Sydney, Australia, where he successfully attracted Australian investments to Malaysia. His international experience expanded further when he became the Director of MIDA Paris from the year 2019 to 2022, focusing on strengthening economic ties between France and Malaysia with an emphasis on attracting quality and sustainable investments.
In between his international assignments, he has contributed significantly to MIDA's Green Technology Division from 2016 to 2019 where he promoted green technology initiatives, aligning Malaysia's investment strategies with global sustainability trends.
Since October 2022, Pravinganesha has been a part of MIDA's efforts to promote sustainability as the Deputy Director of the Sustainability Division. In this role, he promotes Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices and supports especially the local companies adopting ESG elements into their practices. His expertise in ESG makes him a valuable resource for businesses aiming for sustainable growth.
Pravinganesha's career reflects his dedication to sustainable development and investment promotion. Through his work in MIDA, he continues to drive initiatives that align with global sustainability goals, ensuring that Malaysia remains a competitive and responsible investment destination.
Jose Raymond
Managing Director, Regional Strategic Public Affairs and Communications, SW Strategies.
Jose is a masters graduate of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy and also possesses a masters in Business Administration from Murdoch University.
He has helmed various roles throughout his career. He was a multiple award-winning former journalist with The Straits Times and Mediacorp and was also Mediacorp’s inaugural Journalist of the Year. He also picked up the TODAY Story of the Year award a year later.
His previous appointments include helming the Singapore Environment Council as its CEO for more than four years from 2011 to 2015. He also held senior roles at Sport Singapore as the Deputy Director of Media Relations and Social Media and at the Singapore Sports Hub as its Senior Director of Communications and Stakeholder Engagement. He was also the media attache to Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean in his capacity as the President of the Singapore National Olympic Council for the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games and 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.
He has also contributed extensively to voluntary work in the sports and community sectors at the Singapore Swimming Association (Vice-President), Northeast Community Development Council, Chiam See Tong Sports Fund and Flash Athletic Club.
