Grundfos has issued a safety warning about an earlier model of its CONLIFT pumps produced on or before week 47 in 2007. Pumps from that period may pose a dangerous fire risk under certain circumstances.

Grundfos has issued a safety warning about an earlier model of its CONLIFT pumps produced on or before week 47 in 2007. Pumps from that period may pose a dangerous fire risk under certain circumstances.

Safety and product reliability is always our top priority. That is why Grundfos is issuing this safety warning regarding a series of compact condensate removal pumps used in various installations.

CONLIFT is a series of professional range compact condensate removal pumps that are installed both in commercial buildings and private households. These products are used where condensate cannot drain naturally or when the condensate source is located below the backwater level. The typical application is the removal of condensate from condensing boilers, chimneys, air-conditioning, dehumidifiers and refrigerators.

Based on its own investigations, Grundfos came to the conclusion that under certain technical conditions, including the use of household fuses above 10A, the motor of the CONLIFT pump produced up until week 47/2007 (inclusive) may overheat, which may cause the pump to catch fire.

All CONLIFT pumps produced on or after week 48/2007 do not pose any fire risk, since their design is substantially different from the prior model.

Grundfos strongly urges end customers that they need to verify whether they may have a potentially affected CONLIFT pump and that they contact their installer immediately for a free replacement if their pump is affected.

End customers with questions may contact the local Grundfos dealer or installer.

Corrective actions

1) Grundfos will replace any CONLIFT pumps produced up until week 47/2007 (inclusively) by new CONLIFT pumps. This is free of charge for the end user and Grundfos will cover all your costs in relation to the product replacement (see further details below).

2) The risk of fire is unlikely, but cannot be excluded. Therefore, if an end user wants to avoid any risk until a replacement is carried out, the pump should be turned off. However, the connected device, e.g. the condensing boiler, air conditioning, dehumidifier or refrigerator, has to be turned off as well due to a risk of water leakage.

3) Grundfos is informing distributors, installers and end users that CONLIFT pumps from the applicable period may pose a dangerous fire risk and that corrective actions must be taken.

4) Grundfos is also announcing the safety warning on the relevant Grundfos websites and offers further assistance and information both centrally and on a local level.

Please note – this warning does not affect CONLIFT1(LS), CONLIFT1, CONLIFT2 or CONLIFT2 pH+ models.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but safety and reliability is the first priority for Grundfos.
