Are you looking for a partner to help provide access to clean water to some of the millions of people in underserved communities? Then you have come to the right place. Because we have given ourselves the challenge to solve this in SafeWater.
We are a business unit working towards Grundfos’ ambition of reaching 300 million people in 2030 with access to drinking water.
Did you know?
1/3 of the world’s population lack access to safely managed drinking water. This calls for action. Now.
Who is SafeWater?
SafeWater is a strategic business unit in Grundfos. We strive to create lasting impact by transforming underserved communities through commercially viable smart water solutions that contribute towards a better future for all.
We collaborate closely with some of the world’s leading humanitarian and development aid organisations. We also partner up with local distributers, service partners, industries, energy service providers, banks and financing institutions, investors and governments. We predominately operate in East and West Africa, South East Asia and the Middle East – and often in remote locations.
We support the entire value chain
We tie together all activities because it is an end-to-end journey. So along with offering pumps and water solutions, we actively work with local delivery, our global footprint, trainings, installation and service.
This means we support from the moment a water need is identified until a system is in the ground - and still working 10 years later. And we do this through our public and private sectors partners, across sectors and within Grundfos.

Replacement of hand pumps in Africa
Millions of hand pumps exist across Africa, with thousands of them being installed in Zambia. Even though they are a popular solution to access water, they are prone to breakage and the water quality is questionable. As a result, many NGOs and local governments have initiated replacement strategies. The alternative? Solar pumps.
One such NGO is World Vision, who has initiated hand pump replacement projects more than 3 years ago. The swaps have reached more than 20,000 people so far, increasing safe water access and reducing waiting time of collecting water. And this is just the beginning, with more and more hand pumps expected to be replaced in the coming years.
Always striving to create lasting impact
Watch how Grundfos designed a solar pumping system that doesn't depend on the electricity grid. Through this unique and efficient solar system, we were able to ensure consistent and reliable water supply in the Kashmir valley in India.
How we do business
By 2030 it is Grundfos’ ambition to have reached 300 million people with drinking water. This is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals 6 and our purpose of pioneering solutions to the world’s water and climate challenges - and to improve people’s quality of life.
