Textile: Jeyavishnu Clothing cuts energy consumption by 25% in the RO treatment of the ZLD process
The solutions offered by Grundfos have helped us save energy and costs, strengthening our bottom line and improving our competitiveness in the market.
Jeyavishnu Clothing, established in 2008, is part of the K.M. Knitwear group of companies and is a homegrown brand from Tirupur, Tamil Nadu with an annual group turnover of over 100 MM USD.
They are one of the largest dye houses in India, processing over 50 tons of knitted fabrics and capable of printing 15 tons a day. They also process garment exporting to big brands in the US, UK, and European markets.
THE SITUATION
Jeyavishnu Clothing Private Ltd, one of the leading exporters of garments in Tirupur was planning for a new RO plant for their ZLD treatment with increased capacity in line with the increase in their production.
They were looking for energy-efficient pumping solutions for their end-to-end process in ZLD, i.e. raw effluent transfer to reject water RO treatment. The ROs were designed for a series of operations and the pumps were required to meet the high inlet and outlet operating pressures in consecutive stages with less energy consumption and operating costs.
As they take pride in being among the highest-rated environmentally friendly dye houses in the country, sustainability was a critical factor.
THE CHALLENGE
Jeyavishnu Clothing relied on traditional piston- and plunger-type pumps for its RO processes. While functional, these pumps were neither energy-efficient nor smart. They required significant maintenance every three months due to frequent breakdowns, leading to high failure rates and operational downtime.
This resulted in extra expenses, production delays, and decreased output, making it challenging for Jeyavishnu Clothing to maintain a consistent workflow and compete effectively in the market.
THE SOLUTION
Grundfos provided the technical expertise and full-line pumping solutions for their end-to-end process, from raw effluent to reject water treatment.
The comprehensive solutions from Grundfos were tailored to their needs and provided a wide range of pumping solutions, from standard to high-pressure pumps.
Grundfos also offered smart solutions like the MPC controller and CUE drives for better control and monitoring of their RO processes.
These solutions helped Jeyavishnu Clothing maintain operational efficiency and lower their overall energy footprint in the ZLD process.
THE OUTCOME
Grundfos' intelligent pumps were the perfect fit for their high-pressure RO treatment, compact in size and efficient, reducing the carbon footprint.
The pumps improved Jeyavishnu Clothing's productivity, reduced its operational costs, and allowed it to be energy efficient. Implementing Grundfos' solutions led to significant operational efficiencies and reduced energy consumption by up to 25%.
