Reinforcing energy conservation in Acetochem
Acetochem Pvt. Ltd
Acetochem, a leading provider of dyes, is located at Surat, Gujarat. The company set up its first unit in 1976 to manufacture and market dyes intermediates for food color and textiles. It has since consolidated its position a major entity in the sector. The company is today is a strong force to reckon thanks to the dynamic leadership of Mr. Jitendra P. Parmar and Bansilal D. Patel.
Acetochem exports its dyes and intermediates to various European countries, the US, Argentina, Brazil, Egypt, South Africa, Japan, Taiwan and Korea.
The manufacturing unit uses the Multi Evaporation system for concentration and crystallization of liquids. The evaporators help increase the solid contents of the liquid product prior to drying. Depending on the number of effects used in an evaporator the quantity of water evaporated per kilogram of steam increases. In case of multiple effect evaporators, steam jet ejectors or thermo-compressors are used to increase the thermal efficiency. The liquid feed is passed through the heat exchanger and indirectly heated with the help of steam.
In this case, the system was drawing more power and yielding comparatively less results. The main fault was with pressure, as the liquid is crystallized at atmospheric pressure or under vacuum.
To avoid the over drawing of power for required pressure, Grundfos changed the existing circulation pumps to CRN 1-4 and CRN 3-9.
The technical Data for CRN/CR pumps are listed below:
Liquid – Sodium Thi sulphate
Vacuum – 650 mm hg
Temp – 80 C
The suggested replacement of pumps resulted in less energy consumption and more yield. Mr. Jagadishbhai, Engineer, Acetochem says, “Grundfos Pumps helped us to save more than 30% power compared to the horizontal pumps which are normally used for The Multi Evaporation system. These pumps are compact in design and maintenance free for suck kind of vacuum application. The sales and service offered by Grundfos is very prompt and fast. We have chosen Grundfos as preferred pump supplier in our next upcoming project.”
Features for Grundfos pumps are listed below
1. Ease of Installation and operation
2. Trouble free operation
3. Availability of spares and service on time
