Grundfos India partners with CII to strengthen discussions around water-security

Sponsors the 2nd Edition of 'Moving Risks to Resilience for a water-secure future'

New Delhi, November 03, 2020: Climate change has been a significant cause for the increasing natural disasters, which has also affected the world's natural water resources. Water in India is under relentless pressure due to the growing industries and rapid urbanization. Given the current situation, there is an urgent need to fight the crisis with a substantial mid to long term plan. A global leader in advanced pump solutions and a trendsetter in water technology, Grundfos India has partnered with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for the second edition of the conference on 'Moving from Risks to Resilience for a water-secure future'. This year's virtual conference aims to contribute towards creating a robust roadmap for climate and water resilient future.

The conference intends to highlight the significant role of advanced planning, technological advancements and efficient management of natural resources. Senior officials from government, technocrats, diplomats, policymakers and industry leaders were part of the conference. They highlighted the implications of climate change on the growing water crisis in India, leading to situations ranging from flood to drought conditions across various parts of the country.

Grundfos recognises the significance of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (the SDGs), which focuses on 'water for all'. The company aspires to contribute to SDG 6 relentlessly by creating awareness about water conservation, forging partnerships, supporting initiatives which work towards creating a water-secure future, apart from building sustainable products and solutions. Grundfos is therefore supporting this conference as a silver sponsor.

Speaking on the panel ‘Building resilience: evolving a strategic framework’, Saravanan Panneer Selvam, General Manager, INDO Region, Grundfos, said, "In the past few years, India has been witnessing severe water crisis and has experienced extreme conditions of flood and drought in different parts of the country. Recently we witnessed the sudden Hyderabad floods, which created havoc in the city due to poor water management and planning. Such natural disasters are a reminder for us to think and draw a plan for emergencies. Water management is a complex issue and through forums like these, more innovative strategies and solutions evolve for well informed decision making. Apart from that, strategic public-private partnerships (PPP) must be prioritized to build emergency preparedness of infrastructure. More importantly the action on the ground speaks more than the strategies on paper.”

Ranganath N. K., Grundfos India's Water Ambassador, gave a welcome as well as closing remarks at the session.
