SAFETY NOTICE FOR MGE MODEL F MOTORS PRODUCED FROM WEEK 14 – 2017 TO WEEK 36 - 2020

DO NOT REMOVE TERMINAL BOX COVER DURING SERVICE OR MAINTENANCE, UNLESS MAINS POWER IS SWITCHED OFF

SERVICE KIT, COVER MAINS, C2/PN 99926860 MUST BE INSTALLED IN CASE SERVICE WITH POWER ON IS NEEDED

 

This safety notice informs you about a potential safety hazard (electrical shock) during service or maintenance operations on the product “MGE Model F motor” size (11-22kW). These motors are utilized with CRE, MTRE, TPE, NBE, NKE pumps and multi-pump boosters.

This safety notice is necessary as we have become aware of incidents where service on MGE model F has been performed while having the terminal box cover removed and mains power connected (ON).

Such procedure is not in accordance with Grundfos Service Instructions and poses a safety risk due to potential exposure to live 400V terminals.

MGE Model F motors produced from week 14 – 2017 to 36 – 2020 are not designed for such operations.

Grundfos has made a service kit, Cover mains, C2/PN 99926860, available free-of-charge in case such operations are needed on MGE Model F motors produced from week 14 – 2017 to 36 – 2020.

All service or maintenance operations that require removal of terminal box cover shall only be performed after prior installation of this service kit, Cover mains, C2/PN 99926860; only by specifically trained personal and in accordance with locally applicable health and safety rules and regulations on electrical work.

Further, it must be observed that live parts can be dangerous to touch up to 30 minutes after disconnection. Reference is to Grundfos Service instructions[1] and the service kit instructions which must be observed.
