The Situation
Apollo Premier is a landmark commercial development at Vijay Nagar Square in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, which hosts retail spaces on the lower floors, with office spaces and restaurants above. This mixed use project involved a team of experts, including a HVAC. consultant, a principal architect, and a structural consultant, to deliver a state-of-the-art facility.
The primary challenge was managing the cooling load for its vaned tenants. The planned cooling capacity involved five Water-Cooled Chillers with a total capacity of 1500 Tons 1300 TR X5 Chillers), executed in two phases. Ensuring efficient and reliable cooling for all tenants of this mixed use project posed a major challenges.
To meet varying cooling needs and reduce operating costs, the HVAC consultant sought a solution beyond standaris Variable Speed Pumping or Systems. The goal was to achieve the lowest possible IKW/TR (Power Consumption per Ton of Air Conditioning Load) for the entire chiller plant. The consultant turned to Grundfos for an advanced solution that would exceed the performance of conventional pumping systems.
With this SMO System at Apollo Premier, we have proved Grundfos application expertize in optimizing Primary Variable HVAC Systems.
The Solution
Grundfos conducted an in-depth analysis of the project’s cooling requirements and proposed the implementation of a System Management optimizer (SMO) Control Panel, along with Primary Variable Pumps and Condenser Pumps. This tailored solution was designed to optimize the entire cooling system, maximizing energy savings. Key components include Primary Variable Speed Pumps, Cooling Tower Fan Speed Control, and automated demand management of chiller plant.
Grundfos solutions went beyond pumps, including complete balance of systems to provide optimized IKW/Tons performance of the chiller system. This comprehensive approach enabled the entire cooling system to operate at peak efficiency, reducing power consumption and minimizing operational costs for the building.
The Outcome
With the implementation of our Grundfos product, the partnership has demonstrated exceptional effectiveness. The Apollo Premier building, operational for over three years, has consistently met its energy optimization goals, achieving an IKW/TR of 0.74, Grundfos SMO Control Panel has been key in maintaining this energy performance, completely controlling and optimizing chiller plant at all time.
