Partnerships to power the future: Grundfos’ collaboration with a leading education institution in Singapore
08-Jul-2024
At Grundfos, we strongly believe in the power of partnership. It is what has enabled us to expand our technological expertise and experience throughout the years. More importantly, it is partnership that has empowered us to discover new ideas and ultimately turn them into innovative solutions to benefit both customers and communities around the globe.
Two Partners One Goal
Sustainability is at the heart of Grundfos’ value and has been since our founding more than 75 years ago. For decades, we are constantly striving to find new, innovative, and sustainable solutions to the world’s water and climate challenges.
Meanwhile, Singapore is transforming into a global city of sustainability. Last year, the Singapore Green Plan 2030 was launched to advance the sustainability movement and align with international decarbonisation efforts. As a leading tertiary education institute in Singapore, SP also seeks to play an active role in the nation’s ambitious green goals.
With both parties invested in a greener future and have been closely collaborating for over a decade, embarking on a formal partnership rooted in advancing sustainability was a natural next step.
“Similar to Singapore, many countries in the APAC region have increased and accelerated their climate ambitions over the years. Given Grundfos’ footprint in the region, we see a growing role for us to help drive progress in this sustainability journey. With more youths showing a growing passion for sustainability issues, we see this partnership with SP as an opportunity to foster growth and development amongst our younger generations, and spur innovative thinking that has the potential to advance the sustainability trajectory for Singapore and beyond. We hope this opens the door for similar collaboration opportunities with other like-minded partners across the region.” Eric Lai, Grundfos’ Regional Managing Director, Industry – APAC & Country Director for Singapore
Bridging Industry and Academia
As the most energy-intensive sector in Singapore, industries are recognised to hold great potential in contributing to Singapore’s decarbonisation efforts. With that in mind, Grundfos and SP officially joined forces in December 2021 with a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to specifically address this.
Spanning over three years, the partnership aims to co-develop energy and water efficient smart solutions that support industries in Singapore in their efforts to be more sustainable, through collaboration, talent development, and sustainability education.
How does this important objective translate into impactful initiatives? From raising greater sustainability awareness through events, courses, and trainings, to talent development through mentorship programmes, book prizes, student projects, and internships – the opportunities are endless.
