Grundfos steps-up training to address Iraq water crisis
Grundfos has again stepped-up its efforts to address the growing crisis in Iraq’s water supply and treatment infrastructure, with further training to increase awareness of the latest sustainable water pumping and treatment technologies.
With support from local Partner, M.A.H.Y Khoory, Grundfos training specialists hosted seminars in Sulymaniya and Erbil for over 200 customers and distributors. The objective in each case was to maximise awareness of the latest Grundfos products and systems and to support and strengthen relationships and create new sales opportunities.
As part of the company’s ongoing support for NGO’s, two further training events were held with representatives from Unicef, OXFAM, Mercy Corps and ACF (Action against Hunger), who are working in Iraq in to provide water, sanitation and hygiene
relief, as well as support with shelter and food for those affected.
These latter training events, which included a total of 32 NGO personnel, were designed to build closer working relationships whilst improving delegates’ knowledge of water supply and water treatment applications and design. They included an introduction to the main products and support currently available from Grundfos to provide long term, sustainable solutions to Iraq’s problems.
Training focused on recent key developments including the state-of-the-art Grundfos CR high pressure pumps, which improve efficiency and double flow, the latest safe electro-chlorination techniques for water disinfection and the benefits of parallel pumping with Grundfos MPC controllers.
Delegates were also updated on the progress of the recently launched Grundfos SQ, with actual examples of installations in Iraq where the groundbreaking 3” multi-stage submersible pump is already improving and safeguarding critical groundwater extraction for many of the country’s homeowners and farmers.
Speaking after the events, Grundfos’ Waleed Noubami said “The people of Iraq are facing incredible challenges as they attempt to rebuild their water supply infrastructure. It is therefore right that Grundfos, as a leading global supporter and advocate for UN SDG 6 and SDG 13, should be working alongside them to achieve sustainable solutions using our technologically advanced pumps and systems”.
