Grundfos takes part in the MENA Power & Water Conference in Dubai

As a world leader in pump design and technology, Grundfos was one of 4 strategic partners at the conference, which was organised by Proventus Consulting and took place at Dubai’s Park Regis Kris Kin Hotel over two days, 21st and 22nd November.

With a diverse audience that included Government ministers, as well as top managers and engineers, consultants and contractors from all sides of the water industry, Day 2 of the Global Conference was dedicated to sustainable water resource management, treatment, recycling and desalination, with key highlights including an overview of the water sector in MENA and privatisation and expansion of water networks in KSA.

The first of two Grundfos speakers to address the conference, Tolga Candan, an expert in retrofit and energy optimization in water distribution and treatment systems at Grundfos Gulf Distribution FZE, explained how pumps provided the hidden treasure in the drive for energy efficiency. “The old and outdated pumping systems that currently blight much of our water distribution and sewage network are not only inefficient, labour intensive and incredibly expensive to maintain”, he said, “but use, and waste, massive amounts of energy, while often delivering a poor and unreliable water distribution infrastructure”.

“To solve MENA’s water problems, and provide sustainable, long-term solutions, we need to update our networks to modern standards using to the latest generation of innovative pumping systems. In that way, we can reduce the amount of water wasted, provide reliable and flexible networks capable of adapting to changing demands and conditions, and cut our energy bills by almost two-thirds.”

The second speaker, Rajesh Sunkarineni, Product Manager for Controls, Monitoring and Drives, Grundfos Gulf Distribution FZE then took to the floor for an in-depth presentation on the Optimisation of Water Networks using Grundfos’ latest generation of ‘intelligent’ integrated Digital Pumping Solutions.
