PUR foam

PUR foam is used for insulation of almost all cooling pipes and cooling installations due to its impermeability and is therefore used extensively in the production of insulation jackets for pipes, fittings, and such like.

PUR foam is an abbreviation of the chemical term Polyurethane foam. PUR foam is used extensively as insulation material. When treated with various chemical substances, PUR foam can also act as a fire retardant. PUR foam is therefore also used extensively in the production of insulation jackets for pipes, fittings, etc. PUR foam also has good noise-reducing properties.

Prevents condensation in the insulation

PUR foam insulation is effective because PUR foam of sufficient quality is impermeable, i.e. water cannot permeate through the insulation material. This avoids the formation of condensation in the insulation and on the outer surface of cooling pipe.

Over time, other types of insulation material will absorb moisture, leading to the formation of ice in and around the insulation, which dramatically increases the likelihood of cooling-pipe corrosion.
