Latent cooling load

Latent cooling load is a measure of the amount of energy that is necessary to dehumidify the air in a building, for example, regardless of the outdoor humidity. Cooling load needs to be considered when a cooling system is being dimensioned.

Latent cooling load refers to the wet bulb temperature. It specifies the cooling capacity a cooling system needs to be able to dehumidify a building to a desired humidity, even when external factors that create humidity are calculated in. Factors that influence humidity include: 

• People

• Different forms for equipment

• Outside air entering through doors, windows, etc.

The latent cooling load is used when dimensioning a cooling system for industrial processes, commercial air conditioning and district cooling applications.
