In this module, you’ll learn how to use the Grundfos GO app to replace integrated circulator pumps with the ALPHA1 GO and ALPHA2 GO.

The Grundfos GO app is a digital toolbox that helps you work more efficiently with Grundfos intelligent E-products. It combines a suite of professional tools that makes installing, commissioning, controlling and maintaining your pump systems simple and easy. In the Grundfos GO app, GO Replace is the tool you will need to replace integrated circulator pumps with the ALPHA1 GO and ALPHA2 GO.
 
First download the Grundfos GO app from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Alternatively, if you scan the QR code on the ALPHA1 GO or ALPHA2 GO control panel, it will take you to the app store to download the Grundfos GO App. Open the app on your device and navigate to the 'Products' tab. Select the 'GO Replace for circulators' option to begin the replacement process.

It’s also recommended to add GO Replace to 'Your Tools' in the Overview tab for easy access. For the ALPHA2 GO, the replacement process can also be accessed by choosing the Guided Setup option in the app after connecting to the pump. Once you are in the GO Replace tool, you will be prompted to input details about the pump you are replacing.

For Grundfos pumps, use the apps camera to scan the product number. The part number can be found on the top or sides of the pump, as well as on the pump nameplate depending on what model you are working with.
Or enter the product number manually. Non-Grundfos branded pumps can be found by typing in the product name.

If you are using an ALPHA2 GO to replace Grundfos UPM3 or UPM4 pumps, use the app’s camera to scan the data matrix on the front of the pump. Once you’ve input the product you are replacing, the guide will differ depending on whether the app is suggesting … …an ALPHA1 GO or ALPHA2 GO as a replacement. ALPHA2 GO will connect directly with the Grundfos GO app… …and take you through the steps to automatically replicate the old pump’s configuration.

In cases where the UPM3 and UPM4 pumps are externally controlled, the external signal cable will need to be connected to the external signal port on the ALPHA2 GO.

When replicating a UPM3 or UPM4 circulator pump with an ALPHA2 GO, the Grundfos GO app will need access to the cloud. The app doesn’t need to stay connected to the ALPHA2 GO while downloading configuration settings—this can be done even without a strong network signal. However, it must reconnect to the ALPHA2 GO afterward to upload the settings to the circulator pump.

ALPHA1 GO works differently as it doesn’t connect directly to the app. Instead, Grundfos GO will provide detailed instructions on how to configure the pump via the control panel.

After entering the old pump’s details into GO Replace and the installed ALPHA1 GO has been identified, the app will show the exact curve to use. To set this, press and hold the selection button on the pump's operating panel for 10 seconds to access advanced mode. Then select the recommended curve, wait 10 seconds and the new curve will be set.

If needed, you will now be able to select speed setting 1, 2 or 3.
