Dundee get the fire power

Dundee Airport is located in the heart of Scotland and is only 2 miles from the city centre.

This regional airport offers daily services to London City Airport, making it ideally positioned to serve both the business community and tourist industry, especially as St Andrews, Gleneagles and Carnoustie golf courses are all within easy reach.

As with any airport, safety is the highest priority, and regular exercises are routinely undertaken to ensure that in the unlikely event of an emergency the correct back up is available. Grundfos Pumps recently provided the site with a 3-pump Hydro booster set that provides the water required to the fire rig.

Grundfos worked on this project in partnership with Pump Action who undertook the installation and provided the weatherproof enclosure and cold-water storage tank, for the client - Dundee City Council.

The booster set has a dual purpose as it is being used to supply the water needed to meet the strict fire fighting safety exercises that are a regular part of the overall airport safety regime as well as for filling the fire trucks with their 10,000-litre water capacity in 5 minutes.

We all hope the set will never be needed for a ‘real’ fire situation, but should it be, we know it will deliver.
