New unit for Fife hospital

A specialist unit, that offers a homely environment for 18 dementia patients, was recently opened at Stratheden Hospital in Fife. The single storey U-shaped building offers each patient an individual bedroom with en-suite accommodation as well as access to a wide range of shared communal areas. Each bedroom benefits from a bay window with views out over the grounds. The unit also offers immediate access to a sensory garden.

To ensure that all aspects of the project met the most exacting standards, Grundfos Pumps Ltd worked with consultants Capita Symonds and contractors Vaughan Engineering to deliver an M&E solution that was fit for purpose. The pump solution included a range of energy efficient circulators including members of the award winning Grundfos ALPHA2 and MAGNA ranges as well as members of the UPS families, IMpress pressurisation units and a Hydro MPC-E booster set.

It is no surprise that with the amount of thought and planning that has gone into all aspects of this ‘next generation’ unit, it has been shortlisted as a potential winner in the forthcoming Better Building Healthcare awards.
