GO Range Introduction

Discover the GO range and learn how its key features enhance comfort, improve energy efficiency, and simplify installation and replacement.

In this module, you'll be introduced to the GO range and learn about its functionality, purpose, and most important features.

The GO Range is designed for both standalone and integrated circulators in domestic heating applications, providing enhanced comfort and energy savings for residents. For installers, it simplifies commissioning and takes the guesswork out of achieving an efficient system through guided setup. It also ensures quick and effortless replacement of existing pumps, both new and old.

The range features two core products: the UPS4 GO and ALPHA2 GO.

With this simplified portfolio, two pumps are all you need in your van to handle almost any scenario.

  • The UPS4 GO replaces older integrated circulators, in particular three speed circulators like the UPS, as well as UPS3.
  • The ALPHA2 GO replaces newer integrated circulators, specifically UPM3 and UPM4, as well as previous generations of the ALPHA, such as the ALPHA1 and ALPHA3.

This approach minimises delays and keeps you prepared for any job without extra trips to the wholesaler or waiting for delivery of a custom spare part from a boiler or heat pump manufacturer.

The range also introduces new performance variants:

  •  The UPS4 GO offers the same reliable performance as its predecessors, the UPS3, with the 6.5 meter variant providing replacement compatibility with up to 70% of integrated UPS circulators.
  • The ALPHA2 GO brings you more options, including: A 7.5 meter pump that acts as a universal replacement, covering 70% of Grundfos high efficiency circulators integrated in boilers, heat pumps and other systems.

The GO range comes with a range of features that are designed to:

  • Make installations easier.
  • Commissioning simpler and more accurate.
  • Deliver energy savings and enhanced comfort to residents.
  • Reduce callbacks.
  • Make maintenance and troubleshooting quicker and easier.

Let's take a closer look at how the pumps deliver these benefits.

The self-venting feature will automatically remove air from the pump, saving installers time by removing the need for manual pump venting.

With dry run protection, the GO range are safeguarded against potential damage in situations with insufficient liquid, reducing potential breakdowns and providing long-term durability.

The Robust Start-Up feature consists of a high torque start which enhances performance in tough conditions. A non-magnetic shaft and bearing reduces the risk of blockages while the bearing system helps prevent limescale buildup. In the unlikely scenario that the pump is blocked, the motor will continuously restart at the highest possible torque, ensuring startup in tough conditions.

The ALPHA2 GO is enhanced by the Grundfos GO app which offers a range of features to simplify installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting. With guided setup, the app provides step-by-step instructions to ensure accurate commissioning and optimal system performance in both replacement and new installations.

Air detection with system venting allows the pump to detect air around the impeller. If air is detected, the pump will pulsate to more effectively push air to the closest air vents in the system.

Night set-back. When activated through the app, the pump detects that the boiler has entered night operation mode, often reducing the supply temperature. This feature saves energy and ensures the desired comfort for residents.

The app offers trend data that allows the user to track the pump's performance over time, identifying patterns in flow, pressure, energy consumption, temperature and on-cycle time. The event log provides access to historical events and error logs that also suggest possible remedies to warnings and alarms. Software updates ensure installers always have access to the latest features and enhancements. Hydronic balancing, available through the app, ensures the heating system can maintain comfort, reduce energy use, and deliver the desired supply temperatures.

When it comes to replacing integrated circulators, both GO pumps make the process simple with the help of the Grundfos GO app, but they work differently.

The ALPHA2 GO connects directly to the app, allowing it to mimic the performance of the integrated pump being replaced. This direct connection ensures precise configuration, saving time and ensuring optimal system performance.

The UPS4 GO, while not app-connected, still benefits from the app when replacing old pumps. Installers input details about the existing pump into the app, either by scanning the old pump or manually adding the model name or part number into the app, which provides the correct settings to enter on the pump user interface.

Let's recap:

  • The GO range simplifies installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting for installers.
  • The ALPHA2 GO offers app connectivity through its built in Bluetooth for digital features like guided setup, go replace, hydronic balancing, and access to trend data and error logs.
  • The UPS4 GO ensures simple configuration with app-assisted settings.
  • Together, they deliver energy savings, while improving comfort and reliability for homeowners.
